An inspiring evening full of meaningful conversations and practical advice

Together with VDAB, we are organizing this networking event where ambassadors and employers share their experiences with finding work in Belgium.

Take part in two interactive discussion rounds.

The ambassador will openly share their story, the obstacles they faced, how they overcame them, and which practical tips truly helped.

This is not a presentation, but a dynamic and personal dialogue.

You are encouraged to ask questions, share your own experiences, and engage in conversation. This way, you’ll learn not only from the ambassador but also from the other participants at your table. Afterwards, there will be time to freely network with other participants and a few employers.

Would you like to join this inspiring evening? Register before September 22nd via the form below.

We look forward to welcoming you on October 2nd. 🌿

Meet Our Ambassadors

Listen to all the tips!

I’m Abdu, originally from Egypt, and a chemical engineer with a passion for technology.

Because of different factors – language, experience, background – it wasn’t easy to find a job, even with a Master’s degree from KU Leuven in my pocket.
Taking the right steps to improve my shortcomings and listening carefully to the advice of friends and job coaches has helped me enormously!

Volunteering helped me find my way.

I’m Ruma, originally from Bangladesh. I work as a Network Coach for Participation Trajectories at Amal vzw.
My biggest challenge was getting my diploma recognized.
Volunteering helped me find my way.
My tip: don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Sometimes you need to start small in order to grow.

I’m Linh, born in Vietnam and living in Belgium for 14 years. As a graphic and multimedia designer, I now work partly as an employee and partly as a freelancer. Because of strong competition, I first started out in less creative jobs.
That way I built up experience, technical skills, and a network. Sometimes you need to start small in order to grow.

Stronger together.

My name is Ahmad and I come from Syria. As a data engineer, I love finding smart solutions. The road to my diploma wasn’t easy, but volunteering gave me direction and strength. My advice: dare to ask for help — stronger together.

Stay true to yourself and don’t get discouraged.

I’m Meryem. I was born under the starry sky of Ghent, studied Communication Sciences, and now teach adults. With my Turkish roots, I carry a rich culture with me. Yet when I was looking for my first job, I noticed that my “exotic” name was seen more as an obstacle than as an added value. My tip for other jobseekers: stay true to yourself and don’t get discouraged – your story matters.
