The entry test (oral and written) determines in which level you can start a Dutch language course.
When can you take an entry test?
- You want to enroll in a Dutch language course.
- You already speak a little Dutch

When can you take an entry test?
This is proof of your knowledge of Dutch, both oral and in writing skills. You sometimes need this proof for your job or to apply for the Belgian nationality. This test also serves as an exemption test for Dutch as part of the civic integration programme.
The COVAAR is a logical reasoning test. The result determines which school and which Dutch course suit you best. You do not need to know any Dutch to take the test. The test takes 20 minutes.
Do you read or write in a different alphabet? Then you can take the Latin alphabet test. This test determines whether you can read and write well in Latin alphabet. The test takes 5 minutes.
